Tours Underground; One of Cornwall’s and Devon’s premier underground experiences
Visit this former slate mine where slate was both quarried and mined underground in Cornwall. Carnglaze is affiliated to the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site as members of the Cornish Mining Attractions Marketing Association. Find out about the miners’ ingenuity and skills, and how slate roofed the Industrial Revolution. You will go on a self-guided underground tour (may be guided in high seasons) to learn how the mine was worked, ending at the Underground Lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. Browse the comprehensive collection of minerals mined and quarried in the South West, after which you will descend a flight of 60 steps taking you about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground.
Carnglaze Caverns is a constant 10°C underground, cool in Summer, warmer in Winter! A jumper and sensible footwear are recommended. As the Caverns are underground it makes for an ideal wet weather activity in Cornwall.
Safe, easy and magical Woodland Walk for all the family
Wander through the Terrace Garden along its zigzag pathways leading up to the Enchanted Dell. Follow the Woodland Walk through Quarry Wood (4 acres of bluebells in Spring!) to a panoramic view of St Neot village, before looping back down to the main site: a round walk of approx. 25 minutes, or longer if you are counting the faeries! Picnic in the Walled Garden; browse the well-stocked Crystals and Crafts Shop; enjoy the tranquillity and listen to the birdsong! Children’s trail information is available at the Ticket Office. A great day out for all the family.

I thought it was going to be scary in the caverns but it wasn’t, it was great.

Thank you for such an educational and fun day. The combination of science and geography makes an activity packed day
Shape the rock
I’ve got a lot in stock
Then I got an awful shock
Someone locked me in
And I fell over a rock
If I get out I would scream & shout
And then I’d eat a dozen sprouts
Emma W age 7 Class Three
This was a very interesting place. Loved the underground lakes and the history of them. Didn’t know it was there but glad to find it. Tranquil and beautiful area
If a class teacher is looking for a trip to combine science, geography, local history, fantasy and natural history then look no further

The friendliness of the staff and overall are good value. Am looking forward to going back in the spring when the bluebells are out.
