Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra
We are delighted to confirm that, under the inspirational direction of Sara Munns, Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra (CYWO) return to give their end of year concert.
The players of the Cornwall Music Education Hub’s Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra will be returning to Carnglaze Caverns for their annual Easter concert for the first time in 5 years. The young will present another exciting programme as the culmination over their hard work over the last year.
After a year’s practice these wonderful students will be on top form at this their annual end of season concert. Their musical talents must shortly take a back seat as their minds turn to exams so this is time for a celebration!
This will be a concert for all the family with music to suit most tastes. The concert goers, not just the family support, always say how much they enjoy the concert and did not realise that Cornwall had such talented musicians.
Do come and join them to enjoy what always promises to be a well polished performance and a night to remember!
CYWO was formed in September 1985. Over the years, the orchestra has performed at the Edinburgh Festival and Blackheath, London. Concert programmes have covered a wide range of symphonic band music drawn from classical, romantic and twentieth century repertoire.
Membership of the Orchestra is open to musicians aged 11-21 who live or attend school/college in Cornwall. Often students who go on to University or College out of Cornwall remain in the orchestra for another one or two years.
If you wish to buy tickets on the night please pre book so we can provide for the correct numbers. Payment on the night will be cash only please.
As Carnglaze is a Tourist Attraction during the day we close the site to the public at 5pm (8pm August)
The gates will then open an hour before the performance is due to start. Please see your tickets for the performance time.
Your pre-ordered tickets will arrive by post and have a compliment slip with a map and site information.
If it is too late to post the tickets to you they may be collected from the Ticket Office on site before the performance.
Seating is unreserved so it is a case of first come first served!
If you need Low Mobility Parking please inform us at the time of booking as spaces are limited and must be pre-booked.
Please remember this IS a cavern and the temperature remains at 10 deg C all year round, so warm clothing and a cushion are recommended.
We are a rural site so strong shoes and a small torch are also recommended.
Carnglaze Caverns can best be found off the A38. From Liskeard, there are brown tourist signs directing to Carnglaze just before Trago Mills. From Bodmin the signs are just past Trago Mills.
From the A30, turn off at the sign for Colliford Lake and follow the signs to St Neot. Drive through the village and Carnglaze is about a mile south of the village, on the left.
(Routes are highlighted in red on the map below.)
