The Darkside of Pink Floyd
Saturday 22nd April 2017
Following successful concerts in 2014, 2015 and 2016, The Darkside of Pink Floyd return to The Rum Store to perform the music of one of the worlds most iconic bands. Come and be Comfortably Numb!
The music of Pink Floyd has stood the test of time, the bands entire 14 album discography is revered worldwide by millions of fans. Even though the band no longer tour, there is a massive demand for their music to be heard and experienced in a live setting.
There are a number of Pink Floyd Tribute bands worldwide – a casual browse of the internet reveals more than 80 in the UK alone over the last 5 years. They come and go: form, reform, perform and dissolve, some achieve fleeting recognition and move on, few last more than a couple of years … most only focus on reproducing faithful renditions of the album versions of the Floyd classics … however, there is one notable exception…
Introducing: The Darkside of Pink Floyd – an established touring band dedicated to the accurate reproduction of the best Pink Floyd LIVE performances, ranging from the critically acclaimed Pulse Tour (1993) to awesome individual tracks such as ‘Echoes’ taken from David Gilmour’s 2006 “On An Island” tour and ‘Mother’ from Roger Waters “The Wall” tour of 2010/2011. Coupled with an amazing and atmospheric light and video show, be prepared for an unforgettable, emotional 2 1/2 hour rollercoaster ride …
The core members of the band have been in place for six years and, individually, have performing credits stretching back to the 1970s. They are, without exception, masters of their craft and combine to generate a sound which has been described with words such as ‘identical’, ‘awesome’ and ‘authentic’.
The Darkside of Pink Floyd have headlined many festivals and played many important venues across the South West of England including The Dawlish Beer Festival, The Marston Rock Festival, Seaside Rocks Tribute Festival and The Harley Davidson National Rally. Some major showings have been at festivals, such as amazing performances to thousands of fans at Glastonbudget 2013, 2014 and 2015 (the World’s biggest tribute festival), perennial performances at BMAD Festival and even playing two legendary gigs deep within the caves of Kents Cavern.
Universally acclaimed, The Darkside of Pink Floyd have attracted some amazing reviews and accolades including nominations for the Best Tribute Band in the SW for two years running. Here are some unsolicited quotes related to gigs and performances …
“… the best tribute of all for one of the world’s greatest groups … “ The North Devon Journal
“… music and visuals brought a lump to the throat …” Guy Henderson- This is South Devon (Kents Cavern Gig)
“… took you to planet Floyd and kept you there … “ Lemonrock review of Glastonbudget 2013
Trevor George Entertainment Review 2013
Major Live Event – by Derek Smith from: The Stage
A more intense tribute band than The Darkside of Pink Floyd it is hard to imagine. Probably much better suited to a slot in the evening session, this was nevertheless an intriguing set from some fine musicians not afraid to tackle some of the iconic band’s harder tunes to replicate with any authenticity, like the epic Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Pink Floyd fans do not suffer poor tribute bands gladly, but for any bookers this act is Money well spent.
Glastonbudget Festival Review 2013
by Kevin Gaughan from: Music in Leicester
Being the wrong side of middle-aged, I love my Pink Floyd, so The Darkside of Pink Floyd was a band on my ‘essential viewing’ list.
The Big Top Marquee was hot, sweaty and packed. No fancy hair-dos or make up here, it was all serious stuff as you’d expect from any serious Floyd act. Not making any real effort to look like the real McCoy, apart from their black t-shirts, that didn’t matter as the music took you to planet Floyd and kept you there throughout the set.
Playing all the classics including Comfortably Numb and Money, I was only left wanting more at the end of their set.
Wow, they made a maturing Floyd fan very happy!
