‘Flamenco para Siempre’ by Claudia Caolín with Flamenco Loco and Aneta
Flamenco para Siempre ~ Flamenco forever
Flamenco Loco and special guests Claudia Caolín and Aneta la Polaca have collaborated on this very special mutli-media production: ‘Flamenco para Siempre’, featuring a plethora of truly authentic Flamenco dance and music pieces, vivid costumes and passionate choreography.
The fabulous Aneta from Poland will wow the audience with her strong technique and personality and together with Claudia Caolín, experienced and elegant dancer resident on British soil, the two Flamenco women will show what hidden passions can reside in the human soul. They are joined by stunningly virtuous Flamenco guitarist James Cuthbertson (Cuffy) and versatile singer Jaime Cantera.
For this special evening a kaleidoscopic journey to the manifold styles of Flamenco awaits, from a nostalgic, historic feast of the senses to a modern, streamline interpretation, underlined by acoustic fireworks. The artists are linked by their common desire to bring some of the alegria and passion for life of the colourful culture of Southern Spain to the equally beautiful, if somewhat colder, Northern shores.
Apart from the hauntingly beautiful live music, Flamenco para Siempre uses shadow projection and image projections to enhance the visual impact and thus tell untold stories in a new and innovative way. It aims to capture the pathos, drama, colour and excitement inherent within the experience of Flamenco.
Claudia Caolín and Flamenco Loco have collaborated successfully in recent years, particularly in ‘Minar Pasión’ (2016). This outstanding production was a Feast and Arts Council funded special project which had at its core the heritage of mining in Flamenco and the Cornish Diaspora. As with all of her projects, Claudia Caolín works with highly selected international artists who specialise in various aspects of Flamenco music, dance and song.
Details and picture gallery can be seen onwww.flamenco-cornwall.com.
Cuffy Cuthbertson (Guitar) began playing from an early age and when Flamenco entered his life it soon took over. He studied under Tito Heredia, Paco Serrano and Gerardo Núñez and has acquired an extraordinary level of technique. Apart from his teaching practice in Bristol, he tours internationally with singer Yasmin Levy and is involved with several Flamenco projects. In recent years he has been lead guitarist for Claudia Caolín y Compania. He and Jaime Cantera form the duo Flamenco Loco, which rapidly gained a national reputation.
Jaime Cantera (Singer, percussionist) is a Bristol-based Spanish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has absorbed influences from different world music styles and since 2010 has been developing his gift for the ‘cante’ (flamenco song), delivering an authentic passionate and melismatic response to the letras (words) and music. On stage, he not only sings but also plays percussion (cajon, darbouka, palmas.). He and Cuffy are Flamenco Loco. By the way his surname does not mean ‘singer’ but ‘quarry’.
Aneta Skut has discovered her passion for dance as a child but Flamenco has captured her soul and led her to follow its path to Spain, where she learnt from renowned teachers at Amor de Dios in Madrid and in Andalusia (including La Truco, Antonio Canales and La Lupi). Aneta’s expressive style has brought together many influences from the east and west – a fusion representing her life journey through different countries. Aneta lives in Taunton where she teaches weekly flamenco classes. She also performs regularly in the South-West.
Claudia Caolín left her dance career in Germany to complete an MA at Laban Centre London, following which she launched the UK based performance group, Claudia Caolín Y Compania. Her style and technique draws on her many years of traditional Flamenco dance training but also ballet and contemporary dance, which combine to create a compelling and unique spectacle. Based in Cornwall since 2006, Claudia has built a reputation, both as a dedicated teacher and a versatile performer. Claudia Caolín Y Compania has produced many major Flamenco theatre projects from 2010 onwards, which included regional and national touring in collaboration with international artists from the South of France and Andalusia.
