Jane Taylor on her UK tour promoting her brand new album 'Compass' and coming to Carnglaze Caverns
BBC Radio 2’s Johnnie Walker and Bob Harris are real fans. She’s opened for Jools Holland, Paolo Nutini, Paul Buchanan, Seth Lakeman and even the legendary Bill Wyman and currently a film is in the making based entirely on her brand new album ‘Compass’.

Jane Taylor is the  Bristol songstress who famously caused floods of congratulatory e-mails and calls to pour in to the Johnnie Walker show, after just one play of her song 'fall on me' hit the airwaves. They loved it so much he played it for the next three days and promptly invited her onto the show for a live session and so began her journey.

The track was taken from her debut album Montpelier (an album that was financially supported by her loyal and loving fans and featured Massive Attack guitarist Angelo Bruschini's production), and had been made on a complete shoestring. Johnnie Walker actually played it because he liked the look of the cover (a doodle of her street in the more bohemian side of Bristol, penned by Jane herself).

On the back of the success of ‘Montpelier’ she is now promoting her brand new album, 'Compass' which she made up in Sheffield with Richard Hawley's bass player and co-producer Colin Elliot.

The album features among others things, a gospel choir, the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass band (who performed in the film 'Brassed Off') the Richard Hawley band, a Steinway piano, a very special rhythm track on a song called 'Cracks'(made up of everything from a rustling bin to the cellists impression of the sound of a dolphin), and beautiful classical and quirky string arrangements from her band Robin Davies, Beth Porter and Feargus Heatherington..

Jane will be sharing with us songs from her two albums ‘Montpelier’ and ‘Compass’ (produced by Colin Elliot, famous for his work on Richard Hawley’s ‘Coles Corner’), but for now, go to www.myspace.com/janetaylormusic and get yourself a taste of what will turn out to be a very special evening indeed.
