Last year they wowed us with
their friend Spencer Davis this year they’re bringing Herman’s Hermits
for a night to remember...
Nostalgia rules at Carnglaze!
The band that shook the world back in 1964 have re-invented themselves
…quality and distinct sound that was, and still is,
The Animals…” (Barry Kirk, Romford Recorder)
Featuring
from the original Animals –
JOHN STEEL & MICK GALLAGHER (The Blockheads, The Clash, Paul McCartney
John E. Williamson (TITANIC)
Peter Barton (Wayne Fontana's MINDBENDERS)
Having toured extensively together in the past, October 2008 sees
a fantastic package touring the UK, coupling The Animals & Friends
and Special Guests Herman’s Hermits on what promises to be a
fantastic night of pop and R&B.
Over to Barry Whitwam, one of the founder members of
Herman’s Hermits and who played on all the groups’ US and UK Number
One hits and more: “ We are really looking forward to touring again
with The Animals & Friends, as we toured Sweden with them for seven
weeks in the last two years and the show was a great success. We can’t
wait to bring the show back to the UK”. Whitwam is the sole original
member, who has lead the group since the start of the new millennium.
In fact, Barry’s connection with The Animals goes way back to when both
bands toured the USA and Canada in 1966 – when The Animals were support
act to Herman’s Hermits. We don’t have the full story, but it certainly
sounded like great times for two young British bands abroad – including
one occasion Barry recalls, having something to do with “ ...Eric
Burdon and Chas Chandler, a large amount of marijuana, a coffee grinder,
Canadian National Guardsmen and a pair of German Shepherd sniffer
dogs...”. We look forward to Barry’s book, which is almost complete.
THE
ANIMALS & FRIENDS
The enduring breadth of appeal and influence of The Animals in 2008
is best exemplified by just a snapshot of 2007 - a fairly typical year
for The Animals & Friends - which saw the band headlining Gloucester
Blues Festival, storming The Rebellion Punk
Festival in Blackpool, seizing the day at a Midlands rock festival
with ex-Scorpions guitarist, Michael Shenker,
playing London’s 100 Club (twice) and brought the roof down in
Ipswich alongside Wishbone Ash and Focus. . In between
they embarked on a massive UK tour with Special Guest
Spencer Davis – which also played extensive dates in Scandinavia,
where the band are regulars. Add to that their ‘usual’ extensive shows
across Europe and I think the point is made!
HERMAN’S HERMITS
Herman’s Hermits are one of the most successful groups throughout the
world. Even Elvis Presley was a fan Since the departure of
Peter Noone in 1971 to pursue a solo career, original member Barry ‘The
Bean’ Whitwam has guided the group from strength to strength, still
averaging more than 200 one-night stands per year. Their touring
schedule takes them to Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, USA, Canada,
Australia and New Zealand. The ‘Golden Oldies’ still make up a large
part of their show, much to the enjoyment of their fans who still can’t
resist songs like ‘Mrs Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter’,
‘Henry Vlll’, ‘Silhouettes’ and ‘Dandy’.
