There are three chambers of cathedral proportions, hand created by local slate miners. During your tour you will go about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground, via a flight of 60 steps. In the lower chambers you will find the Underground Lake with its crystal clear blue/green water.
For much of the year you will be equipped to go on a self-guided tour of the three caverns but in high season guided tours may be in operation as there is a limit on numbers allowed in the lower caverns at one time.
The Caverns are at a constant 10°C, so a jumper and sensible footwear* are recommended.
* Flip flops are deemed sensible, if you wear them regularly!
Open all year Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm (8pm August)
Please note – we are closed Christmas Day but may be open Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Please phone to check.
