“The Fascinating Geology of Crystals” ~
talk by Calum Beeson open to all ~
no charge but donations welcome
in aid of the ‘Reading the Hurlers’ project
21 November 2014 7:30 pm
We would be very grateful if you would consider mentioning an event we are planning on one of your afternoon shows. The event incorporates a talk by Calum Beeson entitled The Fascinating Geology of Crystals, a table top sale, the raffle of a beautiful painting of the Hurlers, an auction, a mineral display courtesy of Camborne School of Mines and the sale of refreshments including lovely homemade cakes.
Admission is free (donations welcome).
The object of the evening is to raise money for the Reading The Hurlers project- a geology and archaeology shared learning project led by Saltash U3A which is the subject of a grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Hurlers are a group of three early Bronze Age granite Stone Circles, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument on Bodmin Moor. Following on from last year’s Mapping the Sun project, it is hoped that there can be a trial excavation of a possible fourth circle, together with an accompanying programme of talks, guided walks, school visits and a project website.
